You have realized the need for as much AUTOMATED TESTING (6) as possible. And you respect
the KISS (38) pattern.
Some users will not have any founts other than Times Roman and Helvetica (or variants of these). Using fancy
founts can give unpredictable results.
Therefore
Use trite founts (and list several alternatives). Only use these commonest (Times, Arial) founts or include
substitution rules in your HTML (e.g. Arial becomes Helvetica) – and test them thoroughly.
This pattern is terminal within this language.
Provide a list of alternative founts with:
<FONT FACE>="Palatino, Times New Roman, Times Roman, Serif">
Make sure that the founts you use are the commonly available ones; clichés are good in web design. It
a world where most access is through PCs use Times New Roman and Arial. Offer alternatives, such as Times Roman
and Helvetica for Mac or Unix users.
