Compliance Officer — Digital Assets

About Trireme
Trireme operates across digital-asset market making, trading, treasury management, execution and incubation.
As the business grows across jurisdictions, counterparties and exchanges, we are looking to strengthen our compliance and operational-risk framework.
We are seeking a commercially minded Compliance Officer who understands digital assets and can build practical systems appropriate for a fast-moving trading business.
The Role
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining Trireme’s compliance framework and supporting management on regulatory, counterparty and financial-crime risk.
The successful candidate should be capable of balancing strong controls with practical commercial execution.
We are not looking for someone who simply produces policies.
We need someone who can identify risks, design workable controls and ensure those controls are actually followed.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve Trireme’s compliance framework.
- Coordinate AML, KYC and KYB processes.
- Conduct counterparty and client due diligence.
- Maintain sanctions-screening procedures.
- Develop risk-based onboarding standards.

- Manage regulatory and compliance document requests.
- Maintain corporate compliance records.
- Review higher-risk clients and counterparties.
- Maintain escalation and approval procedures.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews.
- Support staff compliance training.
- Maintain conflict-of-interest procedures.
- Help oversee data and record-keeping requirements.
- Monitor regulatory developments relevant to Trireme.
- Assist management with jurisdictional and entity-level compliance questions.
- Support incident-response and evidence-preservation processes where relevant.
- Maintain compliance logs, risk registers and documented decisions.

- Counterparty risk.
- Exchange onboarding.
- Beneficial ownership.
- Corporate documentation.
- Client-risk classification.
- Transaction-risk escalation.

- Conflicts of interest.
- Employee conduct.
- Trading-related compliance.
- Marketing and claims review.
- Cross-border regulatory coordination.
What We Are Looking For
- Relevant compliance experience in digital assets, financial services, trading or fintech.
- Strong understanding of AML and financial-crime controls.
- Experience conducting KYC/KYB and enhanced due diligence.
- Familiarity with sanctions frameworks.
- Strong documentation and organisational skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly with management and commercial teams.
- Comfortable dealing with banks, exchanges, lawyers and institutional counterparties.
- Ability to distinguish material compliance risk from unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Strong judgement and integrity.
Highly Desirable
- Experience at a crypto exchange, trading firm, market maker or digital-asset business.
- Experience across multiple jurisdictions.
- Familiarity with institutional exchange onboarding.
- Understanding of crypto wallets and blockchain transactions.
- Experience with blockchain analytics tools.
- Relevant compliance qualification.
- Experience working with regulators or external counsel.
Important
Where a specific regulated appointment, statutory MLRO position or jurisdiction-specific compliance function is required, the candidate must hold the appropriate experience, qualifications and approvals for that role.
Performance Measures
Success will be assessed on:
- Quality and timeliness of client and counterparty onboarding.
- Reduction in unresolved compliance issues.
- Quality of record keeping.
- Responsiveness to exchanges and counterparties.
- Policy implementation rather than policy production alone.
- Quality of risk escalation.
- Audit and documentation readiness.
- Staff adherence to controls.
- Ability to support commercial activity without compromising material compliance standards.
Compensation
Competitive and dependent on experience, seniority and whether the role is full-time, part-time or includes any formal regulated appointment.
